Best Parfums de Marly

Niche perfume houses are famous for selling expensive high-end perfumes.

There are several famous niche houses but a relatively new French one has already built up quite a remarkable reputation: Parfums de Marly.

If you love niche fragrances and don’t bat an eyelid at paying the price for a high-end product, Parfums de Marly deserves your attention.

From the fragrance to the bottle to the packaging, each Parfum de Marly is truly exquisite.

If you are searching for a perfume as a Christmas or birthday gift that will really impress, Parfums de Marly will not let you down.

We just had to find out which are the best Parfums de Marly from their incredible range. In no particular order, here are our top picks:

1. Parfums de Marly Delina

Delina from Parfums de Marly is an out-and-out feminine perfume. It is, as you can see above, presented in a beautiful opaque, baby pink bottle complete with a tasseled rope.

The bottle is protected by an equally beautiful matching box with a slide-off lid. It exudes an air of expensive and is lovable before you even sample its contents. In many reviews, customers describe how it was love at “first scent” and instantly became their new signature perfume.

What does Parfum de Marly Delina smell like?

Parfums de Marly Delina has the scent of a sensual, fruity floral explosion. You’ll be able to pick up Turkish rose, lily of the valley, and peony from the start. Lychee, rhubarb, and bergamot add a zesty, fruity layer whilst nutmeg provides a warm, spicy note. Fragrant cashmere wood adds a subtle, mysterious base.

In summary, Parfums de Marly Delina has:

  • Top notes of rhubarb and lychee
  • Middle notes of Turkish rose and vanilla
  • Base notes of cashmere wood, Musk

Some perfumes perfect that expensive, high-class smell and Delina is one of them. Anyone wearing this will feel like royalty. The longevity of this fragrance is up to 6 hours so a little goes a long way.

You can buy Parfums de Marly Delina on Amazon. Here’s a link to check the current price.

2. Parfums de Marly Pegasus

Parfums de Marly Pegasus is from their men’s range. It is classed as an oriental fougere and many women love to wear it too. I think it’s fair to class it as a unisex fragrance.

The bottle is a simple silver color embossed with the company’s trademark logo of horses.

The box is a striking black and white design which perfectly complements the fragrance bottle.

Customers have described Pegasus as a calming fragrance and it truly is. It has a sweet, powdery opening that’s warm and almondy. You’ll definitely notice understated tones of sandalwood too.

Parfums de Marly Pegasus has:

  • Top notes of cypress and violet leaf
  • Middle notes of lavender and Jasmine
  • Base notes of amber and vanilla

Pegasus is a must-have for any fragrance collector. It has a classic smell, great longevity, and is not at all overpowering.

You can buy Parfums de Marly Pegasus on Amazon. Here’s a link to check the current price.

3. Parfums de Marly Herod

Herod by Parfums de Marly is a woody gourmand fragrance with a delicious aroma of fresh tobacco leaves. Tobacco fragrances happen to be my favorites.

The bottle is gunmetal and, like Pegasus, is embossed with the company’s trademark logo of horses.

Again, like Pegasus, the box is a striking black and white design which perfectly complements the fragrance bottle.

The opening note of cinnamon and pepper add sweetness and warmth and are followed by a smokey scent of incense mingling with the edible aroma of vanilla.

This fragrance will definitely get you noticed and should be worn with confidence.

Herod owes its amazing scent to:

  • Top notes of cinnamon and pepper
  • Middle notes of tobacco leaf and incense
  • Base notes of vanilla and musk

Herod will appeal to any man who loves tobacco essence. It has a soft woody fragrance, great longevity, and is beautifully subtle.

You can buy Parfums de Marly Herod on Amazon. Here’s a link to check the current price.

4. Parfums de Marly Galloway

Galloway by Parfums de Marly is another great unisex fragrance. It is citrusy and peppery and features another of my favorite perfume ingredients – orange blossom.

The bottle is completely white and understated. The box has a feint stripe and the usual horse emblem embossed. Together they reflect the pure class of the fragrance within.

The citrus and peppery notes of Galloway are gradually concealed by subtle scents of sensual amber and musk.

The fragrance notes of Parfums de Marly Galloway are:

  • Top notes of citrus and pepper
  • Middle notes of iris and orange blossom
  • Base notes of musk and amber

Galloway will be an instant favorite of anyone who adores the freshness of orange blossom and musky amber notes.

Parfums de Marly Galloway is conveniently available on Amazon. Here’s a link to check the current price.

5. Parfums de Marly Athalia

Sometimes the bottle alone is enough to make me want a particular fragrance without sampling it. Parfums de Marly Athalia is one of these. Its total blackness is pure intrigue.

The box that guards this beautiful object and its mysterious contents has the same wow factor. Athalia is truly the perfect gift for the coolest person woman you know.

Athalia is an opulent and utterly feminine floral-woody-musky fragrance. Powdery iris combines perfectly with delicate orange blossom whilst amber and white musk add an air of mystique. This is a truly bewitching and sophisticated blend.

Parfums de Marly Athalia has:

  • Top notes of bitter orange and incense
  • Middle notes of orange blossom
  • Base notes of musk and vanilla

Athalia is perfect for a bewitching woman who is confident and loves to intrigue. It is conveniently available on Amazon. Here’s a link to check the current price.

How long does a bottle of Parfums de Marly last?

Once opened, as long as you store it carefully, a bottle of any Parfum de Marly will keep its beautiful fragrance for at least 24 months.

It is important to keep it in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight – ideally in its presentation box.

Of course, the length of time it lasts also depends on how many sprays are used per day. If you use it liberally it could easily be gone long before 2 years pass

Which Parfums de Marly last the longest?

All of the Parfums de Marly range have good longevity. This means you’ll need fewer sprays per day.

Like all fragrances, some Parfums de Marly are stronget than others. Pegasus has excellent longevity whilst not overpowering a room. An application will last up to 8 hours. Though it may seem expensive, this fragrance will last a long time.

Parfums de Marly History

Parfums de Marly is pure French elegance, founded in 2009 by Julien Sprecher. Their fragrances are refined and contemporary and influenced by Louis XV’s royal court of France from the 18th century.

The companies trademark symbol is the date1743 along with a pair of horses. Louis XV is said to have drawn inspiration from a horse when he commissioned the sculpture Chevaux de Marly from Guillaume Coustou in the year 1743.

The Marly Horses avoided destruction at the Marly estate during the French Revolution and were transported to the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Then, to ensure their preservation, they were moved to the Louvre, Paris in 1984 where they were aptly named Cour Marly.

Best Jo Malone Colognes for Men in 2023

Jo Malone London was founded by the great British perfumer Jo Malone. It is now owned by the renowned perfume giant Estee Lauder and produces some of my favorite unisex colognes.

3. Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia is a warm, autumnal fragrance. Sweet, ripe pear is complemented by the beautiful aroma of white freesias. Amber, patchouli, and woods complement the bouquet perfectly.

The warming notes are created with the following perfectly matched trio:

  • Ripe King William pear with its mellow scented fruitiness

4. Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot Cologne Intense

Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot Cologne has an air of smoky mystery perfectly balanced with fresh citrusy bergamot. The result is truly hypnotic and alluring, perfect for a romantic date.

This irresistible cologne owes its success to the well-designed combination of three gorgeous ingredients:

  • Sparkling citrusy bergamot with its aromatic Earl Grey character
  • The intense dry, woody base of cedarwood
  • Rich, sensuous oud with it gourmand, anamalic intensity

The bergamot puts Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot Cologne firmly in the fresh fragrance class perfect for warmer seasons. Team it with a warmer fragrance and you can wear it in colder seasons too.

Like the other Jo Malone colognes, Oud & Bergamot is available on Amazon. You can see the current price by clicking here.

The verdict: Best Jo Malone Colognes for men

Our best Jo Malone Colognes may seem expensive but one bottle definitely seems to last a long time. If you use it once every day it can easily last up to a year. Divide the price by 365 and that’s not really a high price to pay to smell gorgeous every day. You can see more about the number of sprays in various fragrance sizes here.

With Jo Malone London colognes you are paying for quality. Their ability to be layered means they are considered extremely versatile. The fact that they can be worn by women or men means they are perfect to share.

What Is The Best Creed Aventus Clone in 2023?

If you love Creed Aventus but on principle refuse to spend that much on a fragrance, fear not, there are other options! Several fragrance houses have captured the very essence that everyone loves about Aventus resulting in a very good selection of clones.

Creed Aventus clone: The search for the best

It’s my favorite fragrance so I went in search of the best Creed Aventus clone. There are many fragrances with a similar scent profile to Creed Aventus but the cheapest one I tried I believe is the best. Which one was it? I’ll reveal all in a moment!

What does Creed Aventus smell like?

What is it that so many people love about Creed Aventus? Definitely not the price! But its scent is addictive. When you first spray any fragrance and instantly love it, it’s not always easy to explain why.

Before I tried Creed Aventus, I read many independent reviews, and all of them listed different notes in its fragrance pyramid. Bemused, I looked at three official Creed sites: the UK, the US, and Australia. Guess what? All three were slightly different too! There’s more about this later on.

What does Creed Aventus smell like? A quick answer is it smells gorgeous and expensive. I know several people who wear Creed but in order to give an honest answer, I headed to a local stockist to try a sample fresh from the bottle. Here it is:

Creed Aventus clone: bottle in a sroer

This is a summary of how Creed Aventus is advertised as smelling:

  • Top notes of apple, bergamot, blackcurrant, and pineapple
  • Middle notes of birch, jasmine, rose, pinkberries, and patchouli
  • Base notes of oak moss, musk, ambergris, and vanilla

Ignoring the official fragrance notes, what does Creed Aventus smell like to an everyday person like me?

As I wasn’t wearing any fragrance, I applied a liberal spray to both wrists, gave it a few seconds, and then took a gentle slow, smell. What I immediately picked up was a beautiful fresh, clean ripe fruity scent – citrusy, sharp, and tingly.

After about 30 minutes the fruitiness subsided a little but I could still pick up citrus. I could definitely smell patchouli (t’s one of my favorite fragrances), wood, and rose.

Six hours later, there was still a lovely scent on my skin. The citrus was still obvious, mingled with an earthy, musky, leathery scent and a subtle hint of vanilla.

The best Creed Aventus clone

Before we go any further, though the word clone means an exact copy, there really is no clone that is a perfect match for Creed Aventus.

Not one of the following would make a true Creed Aventus fan give up the real thing – unless they fell on hard times and could no longer afford it! There’s a full explanation of why this is a bit later on.

The best thing about any good Creed Aventus clone is it allows someone who can’t afford the real thing to wear something that smells similar enough at a fraction of the price.

For a copycat to be labeled the best Aventus clone, ideally it should be able to fool someone who loves the real thing into believing it is the real thing.

This is a very tall order with a niche fragrance of such high quality. Most clones are at best, great fragrances with a similar scent profile.

Here are some of the best alternatives to Creed Aventus currently on the market, in no particular order except my favorite one is first:

1. Perfumer’s Choice No.9 Victor by Milton-Lloyd London

Best Creed Aventus Clone: Perfumer's Choice No 9

I ordered this particular copycat after several Aventus lovers’ told me it’s the Creed Aventus clone they like best.

It has the long-winded name, Perfumer’s Choice No. 9 Victor, and is produced by Milton-Lloyd Cosmetics, London. It comes as an Eau de Parfum in a 2.8 fl. oz (83ml) glass bottle with a spray applicator.

The reason this is my favorite clone is that a few Creed wearers I know thought I was wearing Aventus and to me that says quite a lot about it.

There are several things I love about this fragrance:

  • It’s one of the cheapest clones of Aventus and you will see just how cheap if you click the button at the bottom of this review.
  • It’s a lovely fragrance to wear in its own right, not just as a clone.
  • Its projection is good enough for people to notice and compliment it when they get to within 3 feet.
  • A-three spray application gives the right projection and lasts about 4 hours.
  • It’s in a dark bottle that protects its contents from light damage.

I’m not going to bore you with a fragrance note description, I’m just going to describe the scent and how it changes throughout the day.

A soon as it’s sprayed, Perfumer’s Choice No. 9 has that Creed Aventus fresh citrus fruity hit. There’s no initial, alcohol smell at all which is often noticeable in cheaper fragrances.

Very quickly, a woody, musky smell becomes apparent. Several hours later, there’s still a citrus aroma and a musky, vanilla undertone.

After 4 hours, I felt it was time for another application but I think this is a good amount of time for a fragrance of this price to last. You certainly wouldn’t worry about reapplying it several times throughout the day as it’s such a good price.

My verdict is that Perfumer’s Choice No. 9 is not exactly the same as Aventus – no clone truly is – but it’s close enough to make it a really good choice if you can’t afford the real thing.

Other cologne clones are similar enough too but not for this price.

You certainly won’t regret trying Perfumer’s Choice No. 9

2. Supremacy Silver by Afnan

Best Creed Aventus Clone: Afnan Supremacy

I’m recommending Supremacy Silver by Afnan because I almost mistook it for Creed Aventus recently. I thought I could smell Aventus and asked the person what fragrance they were wearing.

As soon as they didn’t say Aventus but replied, “What do you think I’m wearing?” I knew it had to be a clone.

The projection of this fragrance was about 3 feet – just right and not overpowering. The wearer had applied this particular Creed Aventus clone about 3 hours earlier and assured me it lasted for about 6 hours.

It has that nice citrusy, fruity note of Aventus and a smokey, woody note alongside. It also came over as expensive, more like a niche perfume which is probably why it’s a very good Creed imitation.

I would say Supremacy Silver is a lovely fragrance in its own right that happens to smell quite like Creed Aventus.

The bottle has a classy appearance too and you wouldn’t think twice about buying it as a gift for someone who likes Aventus but doesn’t actually own any. At about $45 for a 3.4 fl. oz (100ml) Eau de Parfum, it is very affordable.

This is available from a variety of online sellers at varying prices so it’s best if you google it and see who has the best price and reviews.

3. L’Aventure by Al Haramain

Best Creed Aventus Clone: Al Haramain

Al Haramain L’Aventure is a 3.4 fl.oz (100ml) Eau de Parfum and has a very similar scent to Creed Aventus. Though you can’t tell from the image above, the bottle is a solid chunky cube shape.

This Creed Aventus clone has a lovely citrusy top note of bergamot but not the sharp pineapple hit you get from Creed Aventus.

It dries down to a nice woody, patchouli smell after an hour or so. It doesn’t have great longevity so you’ll probably have to reapply it after 2 to 3 hours. But the cost means this isn’t a problem.

It’s an excellent price and many people who buy it are sure they can’t tell the difference between Al Haramain and Aventus, as you will see if you click the button at the end of this review.

Al Haramain is a very nice, wearable fragrance in its own right. It’s kind of like Creed Aventus but not a cologne I would mistake for it.

If you like Creed Aventus style fragrance, and you’re on a budget, this is an admirable alternative.

4. Zara Vibrant Leather

Creed Aventus Clone: Zara Vibrant Leather

Launched in 2016, Zara’s Vibrant Leather EDP is a woody men’s fragrance with a top note of bergamot, a middle note of bamboo, and a base note of leather.

This simple combination gives a nice scent that makes you think of Creed Aventus. It’s a great price at around $30 for a 4.4 fl. oz (120 ml) bottle.

Vibrant leather is a simple but elegant fragrance. As you spray it you’ll notice the citrusy, spicy aroma of bergamot which does make you think of Creed Aventus.

After a few minutes, the bergamot subsided to reveal the woody middle note of bamboo and after about 30 minutes you’re left with a beautiful leathery base.

Although Vibrant Leather is initially like Aventus, this doesn’t last. It doesn’t have great longevity and has to be reapplied after 3 hours or so but as it costs less than 10% of the price of the Creed favorite, this isn’t such a big deal.

It’s quite like Creed Aventus when initially applied but doesn’t dry down to the same scent.

I’m a fan of Zara fragrances in general. They have a vast choice of fragrances at extremely low prices.

How to get Aventus for less instead of settling for a Creed Aventus clone

One way to get Creed Aventus for less is to buy a decant. Shop around and check reviews and you may get a 3.4 oz unsealed bottle for as little as $60. But do be careful to check the seller’s feedback.

Another way of getting the real thing for less is to buy a larger bottle. As with many fragrances, the bigger the size you buy, the cheaper the contents per ounce.

Creed Aventus comes in many sizes ranging from 50 ml (1.7 fl. oz) to 1 Liter (34 fl. oz) bottles:

Creed Aventus Clone: 1 Liter bottle

If you buy this size from Creed it is currently $1600. This works out at about $160 per 3.4 oz, so a lot less than the $435 you would currently pay for a 3.4 oz bottle. Obviously, $1600 is a lot to pay out in one go but this gives you options such as:

  • Buy with 9 other Creed Aventus loving friends and share it out.
  • Save up and carefully store it in a dark cool space – it should last several years.
  • Buy some glass vials and become a decant seller! You can sell varying size, starting from 1 ml at $7.00

Why there are no perfect Creed Aventus Clones

Creed Aventus is a unique niche fragrance and no clone has managed to exactly copy it. There’s are good reasons why:

  • Creed uses very old expensive infusion methods to produce their fragrances. Replicating these would make clones as expensive and so defeat the object.
  • Aventus has a complex scent profile that’s difficult to copy exactly.
  • Creed makes fragrances in small batches which is why you hear of slight variations from one bottle of Aventus to the next. Again clone producers can’t afford to do this at the prices they sell for.
  • The ingredients used in Creed Aventus are natural, top-end, no expense spared and often hand-picked. Clones can’t afford this luxury.

The Creed Fragrance Pyramid

This is slightly confusing but really, when it comes to choosing a fragrance the top, middle and base notes are just for guidance and I’ll bet most people can’t truly distinguish one note from another when they sample a fragrance.

Best Creed Aventus Clone – Conclusion

Creed Aventus is difficult to clone exactly but there are several colognes that are similar enough and sell at fantastically low prices.

The best Creed Aventus clone as far as I’m concerned is Perfumer’s Choice No.9 Victor by Milton-Lloyd London because it has a similar scent profile, smells very like Creed Aventus, and is the cheapest of all the clones.

If you also like Oud Wood by Tom Ford, you’ll love this gift set on Amazon which contains Perfumer’s Choice No. 10, a very good likeness to Oud Wood, along with the Aventus clone, No.9.

If you love Creed fragrances, Royal Oud clones are popular too.

10 Best Armaf Fragrances for Men in 2023

Armaf is a relatively new fragrance collection produced by leading perfume company, Sterling Parfums.

They have an exciting new line, Armaf Niche, which is a collection of colognes that closely resemble many expensive niche favorites for just a fraction of the price.

Since launching Club de Nuit Intense for Women in 2013, the Armaf brand has gone from strength to strength. Many of their fragrances are revered for being excellent clones of famous fragrances from the likes of Creed, Tom Ford, Kilian, and Dolce & Gabanna, to name but a few.

There are many fragrances in the Armaf collection but if you haven’t tried any, where should you start?

We compare the top Armaf scents to other leading brands in this list of the 10 best Armaf fragrances for men:

1. Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Club de Nuit Intense Man

Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man is well-known as an excellent clone of the iconic Creed Aventus. Whether this was intentional is unconfirmed.

Comparing the notes of each fragrance gives a clue as to why they smell very similar.

Creed Aventus Eau de Parfum has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, pineapple, and apple
  • Middle notes of jasmine, birch, juniper berries, and patchouli
  • Base notes of vanilla, ambergris, and oakmoss

Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, pineapple, and lemon
  • Middle notes of jasmine, birch, rose
  • Base notes of vanilla, ambergris, and patchouli

As you can see, there are many similar notes.

Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man is fruity and fresh. The bergamot in the opening is subtly sweet and citrusy with a warm hint of spice. The birch adds a masculine, woody note which perfectly compliments the intoxicating, musky patchouli. Ambergris gives it a sweet, earthy expensive note that is becoming so rare in the perfume world today.

If you’re searching for a fragrance to wear any day, any time, any season no matter what the occasion, Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man is a perfect choice. It won’t fail to get you noticed.

Now, back to Creed Aventus – if you are a fan of this amazing scent but your fragrance budget just can’t stretch to the price, Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man is one of the best alternatives. It really is similar enough and at about 1/10th of the price, it won’t bankrupt you!

2. Armaf Tres Nuit

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Tres Nuit

Armaf Tres Nuit is a great fragrance in its own right but is also a popular clone of Creed Green Irish Tweed. Again it isn’t known if this was Armaf’s intention. The result is a fresh, woody, gentlemanly fragrance.

Comparing the notes of each fragrance shows why they are similar.

Creed Green Irish Tweed has:

  • Top notes of lemon, and verbena
  • Middle notes of violet leaves, and peppermint
  • Base notes of iris, sandalwood, and ambergris

Armaf Tres Nuit has:

  • Top notes of lemon and verbena
  • Middle notes of violet leaves and spices
  • Base notes of sandalwood and ambergris

The lemon and verbena in Armaf Tres Nuit are an invigorating, fresh combination. The violet leaves will remind you of freshly cut grass whilst the spices add a hint of warmth. The sandalwood and ambergris add a long-lasting layer that you’ll still get a hint of on your skin the next day.

Overall, Tres Nuit is a fresh, summery scent that’s perfect to wear from late Spring to early Fall but there’s nothing to stop you from wearing it at any time.

If you love Creed Green Irish Tweed, Armaf Tres Nuit is something that may interest you. It is very similar but a fraction of the price.

3. Armaf Derby Club House Blanche

Best Armaf fragrances for Men: Derby Club House Blanche

Armaf Derby Club House Blanche is an aromatic, aquatic fragrance classed as unisex. There’s a likeness to Creed Silver Mountain Water but is it a deliberate clone? I wouldn’t like to say. Here’s a comparison of their fragrance notes.

Creed Silver Mountain Water has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, mandarin, and neroli
  • Middle notes of green tea and blackcurrant
  • Base notes of sandalwood and musk

Armaf Derby Club House Blanche has:

  • Top notes of orange, bergamot, and mandarin, plus aquatic notes
  • Middle notes of green tea and blackcurrant
  • Base notes of sandalwood, musk, and galbanum

There is a definite aquatic note that gives Armaf Derby Club House Blanche a light, fresh scent and this combines perfectly with the citrus of the bergamot and orange. Green tea gives this fragrance a beautiful soothing quality. Galbanum adds an enticing hint of fresh pine to the creaminess of the sandalwood base notes.

Armaf Club House Derby has the sort of clean, fresh fragrance that smells perfect on cool but sunny Spring days.

If you are like the fragrance of Creed Silver Mountain Water, Armaf Derby Club House Blanche is very similar. It’s the perfect, affordable alternative.

4. Armaf Shades Wood

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Shades Wood

Armaf shades wood is a rich and powerful oriental cologne that’s alluring and exotic. It smells like a clone of Kilian Rose Oud so let’s compare their fragrance notes.

Kilian Rose Oud has: :

  • Top note of rose
  • Middle notes oud and saffron
  • Base notes guaiac wood and vanilla

Armaf Shades Wood has:

  • Top notes of rose and geranium
  • Middle notes of pepper, clove, and cumin
  • Base notes of sandalwood, cedarwood, and oud

It’s the rose and oud that stand out in both of these fragrances and make them very similar.

Armaf Shades Wood has a beautiful rose opening that is not out and out feminine. The wood and oud in the base notes add enough masculinity to make this a fragrance that can truly be worn by anyone. The cumin adds a strangely irresistible, attractive animalistic odor.

If you like a fragrance for each season, choose Armaf Shades Wood to wear during the fall – but it really can be worn at any time. It’s a great choice for an intimate date night because it is quite powerfully arousing.

If you love Kilian Rose Oud but loathe the price, Armaf Shades Wood is the ideal, affordable clone.

5. Armaf Tag-Him

Best Armaf Fragrances for Him: Tag-Him

Armaf Tag-Him is a woody, spicy fragrance with a fresh edge. Though not a direct clone of Bleu de Chanel, it is very similar. Let’s see how the fragrance notes compare.

Bleu de Chanel has:

  • Top notes of lemon, pink berries, mint, and nutmeg
  • Middle notes of ginger, grapefruit, cedar, vetiver, sea accords, and jasmine
  • Base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense, and labdanum

Armaf Tag-HIm has:

  • Top notes of lemon, pink berries, grapefruit, and bergamot
  • Middle notes of ginger, mint, and nutmeg
  • Base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, cedar, and vetiver

As you can see, Armaf Tag-Him has 9 ingredients in common with Bleu de Chanel so it’s no surprise that it compares quite favorably to it.

Tag-Him is a light, fresh fragrance with a woody base that is best reapplied a couple of times throughout the day. It has quite a subtle, low projection which makes it perfect if you don’t want your fragrance to enter a room before you do. It has a summery feel and can be worn day or night.

If you like Bleu de Chanel but are looking for a good quality lower-priced fragrance, give Tag-Him a try.

6. Armaf Ventana

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Ventana

Armaf Ventana is a traditional men’s floral, woody fragrance that is very similar to the timeless classic, Dior Sauvage. The fragrance notes tell us why.

Dior Sauvage has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, pepper, and mint
  • Middle notes of geranium, lavender, and patchouli
  • Base notes of cedar, labdanum, and ambergris

Armaf Ventana has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, lemon, and red berries
  • Middle notes of geranium, lavender, patchouli, and vetiver
  • Base notes of cedar, labdanum, and ambergris

The seven fragrance notes they have in common do make Ventana and Sauvage very similar.

Armaf Ventana is light and refreshing when first applied because of the citrus fruits in its opening notes. As it dries down it really is like Dior Sauvage. It’s a great fragrance for evening wear as it is quite masculine and romantic – the sort of fragrance that many people are drawn to.

Dior Sauvage appreciators will probably appreciate Armaf Ventana as it is one of the most popular alternatives and will save you quite a few dollars.

7. Armaf Craze

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Craze

Armaf Craze is a sweet, oriental fragrance with a calming aroma. It is quite like Pegasus by Parfums de Marly in the dry down phase. Here’s a comparison of their fragrance notes.

Pegasus by Parfums de Marly has:

  • Top notes of bergamot cumin, and heliotrope
  • Middle notes of lavender, jasmine, and almonds
  • Base Notes of amber, vanilla, and sandalwood

Armaf Craze has:

  • Top notes of bergamot cumin, and heliotrope
  • Middle notes of lavender, jasmine, bitter almond, and sage
  • Base notes of amber, vanilla, and sandalwood

They do have virtually the same ingredients so it’s no surprise there’s a similarity between the two.

The heliotrope gives Armaf Craze a sweet opening fragrance. As it begins to dry calming lavender and almond are very apparent. Finally, the warmth of amber and wood comes through accompanied by creamy vanilla.

Armaf Craze feels like a fragrance that should be worn in cooler seasons with a chunky jumper. It’s relaxing, charming and comforting.

If you enjoy the scent of Pegasus, Armaf Craze is a fragrance you’ll also find great to wear and, as is usual with Armaf, it’ll save you quite a bit of money too.

8. Armaf Le Parfait Pour Homme

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Le Parfait Pour Homme

Armaf Le Parfait Pour Homme is an Asian-inspired fragrance with an interesting fruity crispness. It is believed to be a combination of two other popular Armaf fragrances: Club de Nuit Intense Man and Tres Nuit which of course means it is almost a cross between Creed Aventus and Green Irish Tweed.

Armaf Le Parfait has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, pineapple, and lemon
  • Middle notes of rose, spicy accords, and jasmine
  • Base notes of ambergris, musk, and vanilla

Armaf Le Parfait has an extremely masculine aroma that is similar to Creed Aventus but with a twist of Green Irish Tweed. Even though it has a low price which means you can wear it every day, it really does smell like an expensive, niche fragrance.

9. Armaf Hunter Intense

Best Armaf Fragrances For Men: Hunter Intense

Armaf Hunter Intense is a powerful fragrance. It’s not really an exact clone of any other brands though some people say at first it smells like Yves St Laurent Invictus and dries down to smell more like Dior Sauvage.

Armaf Hunter Intense has:

  • Top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, and lemon
  • Middle notes of ylang-ylang, lavender, tuberose, black pepper, cardamom, and geranium
  • Base notes of patchouli, cedarwood, musk, labdanum, and vetiver

With Armaf Hunter Intense you get an aromatic, woody, and floral fragrance that’s an invigorating blend of bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin orange, and lemon. It dries down to an intense base that projects well – it is certainly hard to ignore.

This fragrance is quite daring and is perfect if you want to get really noticed! It is better suited for outdoor activities where you won’t overpower other people too much.

10. Armaf Italiano Nero Uomo

Best Armaf Fragrances for Men: Italiano Nero

Armaf Italiano Nero Uomo is an Oriental Fougere fragrance for men. Some believe it is a clone of Paco Rabanne Black XS. Let’s compare their compositions.

Paco Rabanne Black XS has:

  • Top notes of lemon, sage, and tagetes (marigold)
  • Middle notes of cinnamon and praline
  • Base notes of ebony wood and black amber

Armaf Italiano Nero Uomo has:

  • Top notes of bergamot and lemon
  • Middle notes of lavender and cypress
  • Base notes of amber and patchouli

I’m not sure there is a great similarity here. The opening notes of both are citrusy but after that, they are not really that similar.

Armaf Italiano Nero Uomo has an irresistible amber and patchouli base which renders this fragrance as one that could be termed magnetic i.e. it does draw people to the wearer,

Wear this as a fragrance in its own right, not because you are looking for a fragrance that reminds you of another. It’s affordable and I recommend it for a date night.

Conclusion

Armaf has a pretty amazing array of fragrances to choose from. If you’re on a budget or don’t believe in spending ridiculous amounts of money on a fragrance you can’t go wrong.

Amongst our 10 best Armaf fragrances for men, you might find a clone of your favorite, expensive, niche cologne and save yourself a small fortune.

Armaf fragrances may have skimpy prices but there is nothing whatsoever skimpy about their quality and you can absolutely wear any of their fragrances with pride.

Are Zara Fragrances Any Good?

Zara is a well-known fashion label worldwide. From humble beginnings in Spain in 1975, they have expanded to incorporate over 2,000 stores in over 100 countries.

Zara branched into the fragrance market in 1999 and hasn’t looked back. There are so many to choose from and new additions appearing all the time. But are Zara fragrances actually any good?

You might be wondering if Zara fragrances are any good because they are so cheap or because Zara is better known as a clothing brand. Zara fragrances are not just good, they are seriously good! Many are similar to classic fragrances at a fraction of the cost. Zara has recently released the Emotions collection which has 8 incredibly luxurious designer fragrances at prices anyone will be happy to pay.

Zara is not the first fashion label to produce perfume but they are one of the first to offer some very wearable fragrances at very affordable prices, making them accessible no matter what your budget.

Are Zara Fragrances Any Good? Fragrances

What to expect from a Zara fragrance

Zara fragrance is not just cheap but has amazing aromas that compete well with more expensive well-known perfumes and colognes. This is because Zara collaborates with experienced perfumers.

Though Zara fragrances aren’t deliberate clones of famous fragrances, some of their scents are compared favorably to those from the big fragrance houses such as Creed, Yves St Laurent, and Dior. We’ll look at these in more detail in a moment.

Best Zara fragrances

Before we get into the detail, if I had to pick the best Zara perfume for women I would choose Black Peony. It s often compared to Flower Bomb by Viktor & Rolf and does have the same opening. You can see more about this in Zara fragrances for women later on.

The best Zara fragrance for men has to be Vibrant Leather which opens very much like Creed Aventus with a gorgeous hit of bergamot. You can see a full description of this next.

Zara fragrances for men

The Zara men’s cologne range has woody, oriental and aromatic fragrances to choose from. You’ll find light citrus tones perfect for an everyday aftershave and stronger aromas perfect for evening wear.

So, whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for the best Zara fragrance for him, these our top 6 Zara fragrances for men:

1. Vibrant Leather

Image of Zara Vibrant Leather EDP

Launched in 2016, Zara’s Vibrant Leather EDP is a woody men’s fragrance with a top note of bergamot, middle note of bamboo and a base note of leather.

Vibrant Leather is popular because of its similarity to Creed Aventus, the popular House of Creed fragrance released in 2010. Aventus has a unique aroma, involving top notes of blackcurrant, bergamot, apple, and pineapple; middle notes of rose, birch, jasmine, and patchouli; and base notes of oakmoss, musk, ambergris, and vanilla.

With just the three notes, Vibrant leather is a simple yet elegant fragrance. As soon as you spray it you’ll notice the citrusy and spicy aroma of bergamot which is why it initially smells like Creed Aventus.

After a few moments, the bergamot fades to reveal the woody middle note of bamboo. As the scent dries down, the nostalgic leathery aroma comes into its own.

Although Vibrant Leather is initially like Aventus, it dries down to a great smelling fragrance in its own right. It needs to be reapplied after 3 hours or so but as it costs less than 10% of the price of the Creed favorite, this isn’t really an expensive problem.

The bottle and packaging are simple and effective and do not give away the fact that this fragrance is not expensive.

2. Vibrant Leather Oud

Image of Zara Vibrant Leather Oud

Zara Vibrant Leather Oud EDP was launched in 2019 and has different fragrance notes to the original Vibrant Leather.

Like Vibrant Leather, Vibrant Leather Oud has a top note of bergamot giving it the initial citrusy spicy aroma that is reminiscent of Creed Aventus. Once this has settled, the middle notes of leather and incense come through.

Finally, it dries down to expose warm base notes of amber and oud (from agarwood tree resin). The overall aroma is of elegant oriental wood.

Vibrant Leather Oud is amazingly inexpensive and could easily pass as an expensive fragrance – the bottle and packaging are certainly classy enough. So if your budget is limited, it’s definitely worth a trial. No one will ever guess it didn’t cost you the earth.

3. Tobacco Collection Rich Warm Addictive

Image of Zara Rich Warm Addictive

Zara Tobacco Collection Rich Warm Addictive is an incredibly addictive scent at an incredibly low price.

With top notes of coconut and white peony; middle notes of rum, honey and vanilla bourbon; and base notes of tobacco, sandalwood, and cedar, Rich Warm Addictive is a perfect cold-weather fragrance. One whiff and you will imagine cozy evenings by the fire, roll-neck sweaters, with a warming drink in your hand.

Once the aromatic top notes of peony and coconut fade, the rich sweetness of honey and vanilla make Rich Warm Addictive smell like a gourmand (edible) fragrance. After dry down, there’s a hint of fresh tobacco mixed with powdery sandalwood and sweet cedar.

The bottle is great, especially for a fragrance of this price, but the cardboard packaging is strangely complicated which is a little annoying if you like to store your fragrance in its box like I do. But for the money, I wouldn’t complain at all.

4. Aromatic Future

Zara’s Aromatic Future has top notes of bergamot and black pepper; middle notes of lavender and cashmere wood; and base notes of ambergris and vetiver. It is often compared favorably to Dior Sauvage.

Aromatic Future is aptly named as it does have a gorgeous aromatic fragrance with spicy undertones. Its aroma resembles Dior Sauvage because they both use bergamot, black pepper, lavender, and vetiver. In case you’re wondering, vetiver is a native Indian grass. The oil used in fragrances is extracted from its roots and has an earthy and woody aroma.

Like Dior Sauvage, Aromatic Future is a mass appealing fragrance, designed to appeal to everyone. It can be worn on any occasion, day or night, and in any season.

Aromatic Future is a fraction of the price of Dior Sauvage yet no one would ever guess this when comparing their aromas. Like other Zara fragrances, you may need to reapply it during the day but as it’s so inexpensive, this is not a problem.

Image of ambergris

5. Y Collection

If you love La Nuit De L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent, you’ll feel the same way about Zara Y Collection. You could almost believe it’s a deliberate clone.

The top notes of Y Collection are bergamot, lavender, and sage. Its middle notes are rose and clove. Once it’s dried down, the base notes are vetiver, patchouli, and musk. Compare this to La Nuit De L’Homme which includes bergamot in its top notes, lavender in its middle notes and vetiver in its base notes, and you’ll understand why Y Collection is very similar.

Y Collection is aromatic, warm, and spicy. Initially, you’ll be struck by the citrusy spicy aroma of bergamot. As it dries down, sweet and spicy clove and a hint of rose become more apparent. When it’s totally dried down the gorgeous earthy warmth of vetiver and patchouli stand out.

Of all the Zara fragrances for men, Y Collection has the most staying power after one application. Its aroma is quite intoxicating and irresistible making it a great date night scent.

6. Seoul 532-8 Sinsa Dong Gangnam-Gu

Seoul 532-8 Sinsa Dong Gangnam-Gu is a long name for a fragrance! In case you’re wondering what it means, it’s the address of a Zara store in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.

Seoul 532-8 has a similar scent to Paco Rabanne Invictus so if you’re a fan of that, you’re bound to enjoy this Zara fragrance – especially as it’s a fraction of the price.

With tangerine, pepper, and nutmeg top notes; lavandin and leather middle notes; and dry amber and coumarin base notes, Seoul 532-8 is a woody, spicy, aquatic fragrance.

As you first spray Seoul 532-8 you’ll notice the fresh tangerine scent mingled with spicy nutmeg from the top notes. As it dries, a light saltiness comes through as it finally becomes a clean aromatic amber fragrance. Seoul 532-8 projects quite well so go easy on the amount you apply.

The freshness of this scent means its great in the gym or for summer daytime. As it’s an Eau de Toilette, it fades fairly quickly so you’ll need to carry it around with you to reapply throughout the day.

Zara perfume for women

The women’s collection comprises Zara perfume, Eau de Parfum EDP), and Eau de Toilette (EDT) to suit every occasion, from day time floral aromas to oriental or woody tones to suit the evenings.

Here are four of the very best Zara fragrances for women:

1. Rose

Zara Rose has, as you can probably guess, a wonderful rose scent. This floral fragrance has green and blackcurrant top notes, freesia, peony and rose middle notes, and sandalwood and musk base notes.

It bears a resemblance to For Her by Narciso Rodriguez which contains rose in its top notes.

Zara Rose is also like Dior’s J’Adore but a fraction of the price. It’s a grown-up fragrance that’s floral and alluring.

So if you like For Her or J’Adore you’ll be onto a winner with Zara Rose. If you’re not familiar with either of those then you’ll enjoy it for the pretty scent that it is and you’ll really enjoy the fact that it really doesn’t cost that much at all yet can easily be mistaken for an expensive fragrance.

2. Chocolate

Zara Chocolate is a gourmand fragrance that really does smell good enough to eat. It has top notes of chocolate; middle notes of cacao and vanilla; and base notes of amber and musk.

Once dried down, Zara Chocolate is similar to Trussardi Inside which has the same amber and musk base notes.

If you’re a gourmand perfume lover looking for a fun fragrance at an equally fun price, Zara Chocolate is perfect for you.

Image of cacao

3. White

Zara White is a light, refreshing, floral fragrance. It has top notes of freesia and lychee; middle notes of magnolia, pepper, and ginger; and base notes of amber and musk.

The initial scent is fresh and dewy and as it starts to dry, the spiciness of the magnolia, ginger, and pepper come through. When it’s completely dried down, you’re left with its warming amber and musk base notes.

If Lancome’s Miracle is one of your favorites then you’ll love Zara White which has a similar aroma and far lower price tag. The only difference between the two is the lack of Jasmine in Zara White.

Image of freesia
Freesia

4. Black Peony

Zara Black Peony has a sweet oriental floral fragrance which it owes to its top note of bergamot; middle notes of peach and freesia; and base notes of vanilla and sandalwood.

Zara Black Peony is often compared to Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, a favorite of mine, so I was excited to give it a whirl. At first, the citrusy bergamot followed by sweet freesia did remind me of Flowerbomb but as it dried down the resemblance disappeared. Black Peony is sweeter and lacks the patchouli base notes which I really love.

Black Peony is a gorgeous fragrance in its own right at an amazing price.

Zara Emotions: A Unisex Fragrance Collection by Zara and Jo Loves

In November 2019, Zara launched an exciting new collection in collaboration with the acclaimed British perfumer Jo Malone AKA Jo Loves.

Zara’s Amalfi Sunray sounds summery and with notes of bergamot, mandarin and orange blossom it is lightly floral with a hint of citrusy sweetness. It’s a strong enough fragrance to last all day long.

Orange blossom, neroli, and ylang-ylang give Zara’s Fleur D’Oranger is sweet and light, ideal for summer days. It’s quite noticeable at first but dries down to a subtle, very wearable fragrance.

Image of peony
Peony

N⁰ 08 Bohemian Bluebells

Though it has the word bluebells in its name, Bohemian Bluebells has notes of lavender, sandalwood, and musk. Not a bluebell in sight! The scent is surprisingly spirited and unique.

Conclusion

Zara fragrances are not just cheap fashion perfumes. Fragrances can be inexpensive yet still be worthy of wearing. Zara has definitely proved this!

See my Jo Malone London have some amazing unisex fragrances, perfect for layering. These are my favorites.

Why is Creed fragrance so expensive?

Image of Creed fragrances

Let’s talk about Creed fragrance. It’s popular. Its aroma is incredible. It’s expensive. Yes, it has the sort of price tag that drives people to ask if it is really worth the price. Let’s find out if it really is.

Why is Creed fragrance so expensive?

For a fragrance to command a high price several factors must come into play: it must be successfully marketed to arouse interest, it has to have a delicious aroma, and people must be convinced that it’s worth paying a lot of money for. To an extent, clever marketing, packaging, and reputation are key.

Owning a House of Creed fragrance is as much a status symbol as owning a Ferrari or a Tiffany diamond. The company has successfully produced and marketed perfume and cologne for which people are absolutely prepared to pay high prices.

The Creed factory resides in Fontainebleau, France, and uses hand-picked, rare ingredients from exotic countries as a basis for all its fragrances. Each fragrance is hand-crafted using traditional infusion techniques to ensure each fragrance is always high quality. This attention to detail comes at a price.

Is Creed fragrance worth the money?

Let’s say you enter a store, sample a Creed fragrance, and are enchanted by its fragrance. You look at the price tag, consider the impact on your wallet, and decide to pay the price. You then enjoy wearing it every day and feel no other fragrance has ever suited you better. Then to you, Creed is absolutely worth the price. And that is all that matters.

If you could establish the price of each individual ingredient within a fragrance, the price of the bottle and packaging, the cost of the labor to produced it in the first place, I doubt you would reach an amount anywhere near that on the price tag.

When you purchase a Creed fragrance it is simply worth what you are prepared to pay for it. It seems with Creed, even if some people aren’t convinced it is worth the money, enough people are which is why it sells so successfully at the high prices on the tags – has been doing so for many years.

Creed fragrances – whether you choose cologne, aftershave or perfume – certainly look like they are worth every penny. They are beautifully packaged in bottles designed by the French glassmaker Pochet de Couval, emblazoned with the Creed log of a knight on horseback. Each fragrance smells like it is worth the price too and the strength of its high-quality ingredients means it lasts longer on your skin, so a small application goes a long way making a bottle last a lot longer than you might think.

Can you buy Creed fragrances any cheaper?

Creed fragrances are not generally discounted and House of Creed does not authorize discount sellers, so beware. Be on high alert for the fact that it might be a fake product if you find it for sale a lot cheaper than the usual price. Protect yourself and only buy Creed from a reputable seller.

Creed doesn’t sell samples so be wary if you are offered any for sale. Don’t trust decants either. There is no way of knowing that an unsealed product is genuine. You will pay less for these but the amount you get is ounce for ounce more expensive than a whole bottle.

An example of how to get genuine Creed fragrance as cheap as possible

A good way to get Creed at a cheaper price is to find several friends who like the same fragrance and buy a bottle between you. Then carefully decant it yourselves into small, clean sealable bottles. You might even be able to get empty Creed bottles from an auction site such as eBay.

The larger the bottle you buy, the cheaper per 100 ml a Creed fragrance costs.

Image of Creed Aventus

For example, how to get genuine Creed Aventus at a much cheaper price:

These are the retail prices from the official Creed online boutique

Size (ml)PriceEquivalent
Price per 100 ml
1000$1600$160
500$1055$211
250$670$268
100$435$435
50$325$650

As you can see, the cheapest price you’ll pay for Creed Aventus is $325 for 50 ml. However, the larger the size you buy the better value.

Imagine if I told you it is possible to get 100 ml of genuine Creed Aventus for $160 – that’s twice as much fragrance as in the smallest 50 ml bottle for less than half the price!

Here’s how you do it:

  • Find 9 people who, like you, also want to buy cheaper Creed Aventus
  • Collect $160 from each of them and add in $160 yourself
  • Buy a 1000 ml bottle of Creed Aventus for $1600
  • Buy 9 screw-top bottles that can hold 100 ml of fluid (for about $12) and a small funnel (a pack of 5 costs about $3) – total outlay $15 (don’t forget to charge your friends $1.50 each for these)
  • Carefully decant 100 ml of Creed Aventus into each of the 9 bottles (it’s a good idea if someone holds the small bottle to steady it)
  • Give your 9 friends their 100 ml each and keep your 100 ml in the original bottle – after all, you did all the leg work!
  • Keep the fragrance box somewhere safe
  • When you have used all of your share of Creed Aventus, eBay the empty bottle and box. You could get anything from $20 to $70 for it
An image of small glass bottles

Decant Sellers

If you can’t find enough friends to buy and share a bottle of Creed with, there are online sellers who do exactly what I’ve described above. They buy the 1000 ml bottles and decant them into smaller sizes.

To give you an idea of the price difference, here is a table compiled from a typical decant seller’s price list for Creed Aventus.

Size (ml)PriceEquivalent
per 100 ml
5$26$520
9$41$456
30$120$400
50$200$400

As you can see, a 50 ml decant of Creed Aventus will cost you $125 less than a factory-sealed bottle.

If you do buy any Creed fragrance by this method, check out reviews of the seller first. Remember your fragrance will not be in a sealed bottle and you have no way of knowing how old it is.

Creed clones. Are they any good?

If you think Creed fragrances are overpriced and feel decants are too expensive for you, there are some decent clones on the market. Obviously, they are not Creed but are a good alternative for those on a budget or those who don’t believe in paying extortionate prices for fragrance.

You can find fragrance clones online. Again, check out the companies credentials and reviews before you buy. Make sure you have tried a sample of your chosen Creed fragrance at a perfume counter so you know what to expect when your clone arrives.

Some of the best clones on the market

1. Creed Aventus alternative

Released in September 2010 as part of the celebrations for Creed’s 250th anniversary, Aventus is one of the most popular Creed fragrances on the market today.

Image of Club de Nuit fragrance

One of the most talked-about alternatives to Creed Aventus is Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man. At about one-tenth of the price of Aventus per 100 ml, you won’t feel a huge pain in your wallet when you purchase it.

Many people claim this fragrance is very similar to Creed Aventus and say it is strong and long-lasting. This just one of many great Creed clones.

2. Creed Royal Oud alternative

Creed Royal Oud was launched in 2011 and is another well-loved fragrance. It contains sweet oud, an extract taken from rare agarwood trees found in certain areas of India. Oud’s rarity explains the high price tag.

Image of Lomani Black Intense

Lomani Intense Black is an extremely good-value fragrance with very good reviews, many happy that it is very similar to Creed Royal Oud at a fraction of the price. 100 ml of Royal Oud commands a price of $525, whereas Intense Black is less than 4% of this amount. It is bold but not overpowering and at this price, a little difference in aroma can surely be forgiven.

3. Creed Green Irish tweed alternative

Launched in 1985, Green Irish Tweed is one of the older Creed fragrances. It has a classic fresh and woody aroma that never seems to date.

Image of Tres Nuit fragrance

Armaf Tres Nuit is a perfect alternative to Creed Irish Green Tweed and costs a snip of the price. It seems Armaf has the knack for producing similar smelling fragrances to the Creed favorites. Whereas 100 ml of Green Irish Tweed will set you back $415, you’ll pay less than 10% of this for Tres Nuit – a price that will surely help you not to take much notice of any little difference in the smell.

Conclusion

Creed fragrances are expensive but if you love them then treat yourself to your favorite. There are many ways to spend your hard-earned cash and everyone is entitled to spoil themselves now and then. Is Creed worth the expensive price tags? Yes, if you are prepared to pay the price for something you really want and if it makes you happy to do so.

Final Warning

Only buy Creed and Creed decants online from a reputable seller with good reviews and feedback. After all, at those prices, you don’t want to end up with a fake!
